This is the 5th post in this series, today we will learn how to create a new AD DS Forest Root Domain using Server Manager.

Step 1: Add Server and Install Active Directory Domain Servers
You will need to follow Step 1 and Step 2 as mentioned in the Post 1 of this series
Step 2: Promote the server
- Under Server Manager
- Click on the Notification icon, click Promote this server to a domain controller
- This brings Active Directory Domain Services Configuration Wizard
- Select Add a new forest, under Root domain name: type corp.dotnetscraps.com
- Click Next
- Under Domain Controller Options, enter password for Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) password
- Click Next
- Under DNS Options, click Change…
- Enter the credentials of a Domain Admin account
- Click Next
- Under Additional Options, enter the NetBIOS domain name: type CORP
- Click Next
- Under Paths, I am keeping everything as default
- Click Next
NOTE: Change the paths in the Production servers - Under Review Options, click Next
- Under Prerequisites Check, click Install
